DPD is an abbreviation of diethyl-p-lhenylene diamine. DPD tablets react with pool water containing chlorine or bromine, coloring the water sample various shades of red. The deeper the color, the higher the concentration of sanitizer. DPD tablets tests have largely replaced orthotolidine testing as they are now considered carcinogenic. The DPD tablet #1 is used to measure free or "available" sanitizer, the useful hypochlorous or hypobromous acid required for sanitizing. 50 replacement tablets for test kit #123230.
